A competition slick. Built for the circuit. Not for the road.
Bare Back S is the no-compromise end of the range. A full racing slick — no tread blocks, no DOT approval, no apology. Built for sanctioned drift and circuit competition where road compliance isn't the brief and the tyre can be specified purely for performance.
Surau Motorsport is the only Australian-engineered tyre brand in the segment offering a competition slick alongside its DOT range. The field tops out at semi-slicks. We go one further.
Track use onlyA build tuned for the job.
Race carcass, optimised for thermal stability and mechanical grip rather than tread life or road compliance.
Carcass
Race-spec polyester casing, reduced ply count vs road tyre for lower weight and faster heat-up.
Belt package
Two-ply high-tensile steel belt for sustained lateral load.
Cap ply
Two-ply aramid spiral cap — same race-grade construction as Just The Tip SS.
Bead bundle
Race bead, low-profile apex for direct steering response.
RC-100 race compound
Race compound, optimised for a defined thermal operating window.
- Optimal thermal window — 80–120 °C tread surface temperature
- Below 80 °C the compound runs cold and grip falls off rapidly — warm-up laps required
- Above 120 °C the compound enters thermal degradation — sustained heat cycling shortens life
- Treadwear — Not applicable (no UTQG rating — this is a competition tyre)
- Expected life under sustained sanctioned use: 4–8 race sessions depending on circuit and driver
True slick. No blocks. No grooves.
The contact patch is the full tyre width — maximum rubber on the road.
Wear indicator
Single brand-coloured circumferential band, becomes visible as the tyre approaches end-of-life.
Heat banding
Visible scrub marking in the optimal thermal window for visual diagnosis.
Surface
Slick rubber surface, scuffed to spec before delivery.
Race-spec sidewall — short profile, reinforced for sustained lateral load. Designed for purpose-built race wheels, not road-spec rims.
Good for. Not for.
Good for
- Sanctioned drift competition
- Circuit racing (closed-track)
- Closed-track testing & development
- Track-day use only at venues that permit slicks
Not for
- Anything on a public road — not DOT approved, not road legal anywhere
- Wet conditions — a slick provides no water dispersal
- Cold ambient conditions where the compound can't reach its thermal window
- Trailer-to-event drift practice where the venue permits semi-slicks only — use Just The Tip SS

- Not DOT approved — by design. This is a competition tyre.
- FIA / sanctioning body — Constructed to the relevant FIA technical regulations for racing tyres at this section width.
- Quality regime — Manufactured under IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 (same automotive-supply standard as our DOT range).
No direct competitor.
This product has no direct competitor in the Australian-engineered tyre segment. The field stops at semi-slicks. Bare Back S extends the range one tier further, giving competition teams a domestically-engineered slick option where they currently have to source from overseas race brands.
- Domestic engineering and support — Australian timezone, Australian warranty
- Manufactured under the same IATF 16949 regime as our DOT range — quality consistency across the line
- Distributed direct through industry partners — no parallel-import grey market
